Indian Telecom minister Kapil Sibal got many comments on government's move to censor and monitor content on social networking sites as many internet users (netizens) are reacting strongly to against it. Kapil Sibal had asked internet giants like Google, Facebook, Microsoft and Yahoo to screen derogatory, defamatory and inflammatory content referring to political leaders and also the religions while he was addressing a press conference yesterday.
Member of Parliament Rajeev Chandrashekhar, Shobhaa De and Shekhar Kapur also expressed their discontent over Kapil Sibal's statement, the statement that he gave on moves to eliminate offensive content from Internet social networking sites related to politicians.
The government actually cannot be a censor of thought and freedom of citizens,
The news was trending all over on internet after Sibal made that statement and he got many comments about it.
Just check out what Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Twitter “Can u imagine some bureaucrat in Dept of Telecom being tasked with approving content on internet, of deciding appropriate n inappropriate."
And this one tweeted by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala "Don't think Sibal even understands the Internet. This happens when you make a lawyer an IT Minister. Like hiring Mayawati for an item song."
